What languages are spoken in Bhutan?
There are 19 languages spoken in Bhutan, but the national language is Dzongkha. English is used throughout Bhutan’s education system, so it is widely used and understood.
What currency is used in Bhutan?
Bhutan’s currency is called ngultrum. It’s 1:1 with Indian rupees.
Do I need a visa to enter Bhutan?
Visitors of all nationalities, except those from India, require a visa before entering Bhutan. For all visitors, except those from Bangladesh and the Maldives, this visa must be applied for and approved in advance of travel. Visitors from Bangladesh and the Maldives also require a visa, but this can be applied for and approved either in advance of travel or upon arrival in Bhutan.
Visitors from India are able to apply for a permit but are required to hold an Indian passport or an Indian voter ID card. For Indian nationals under the age of 18, a passport or a birth certificate can be used to enter and they must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Nationals from Switzerland and Thailand holding diplomatic or government-official passports are eligible for a visa at their port of entry.

Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance is essential when visiting Bhutan. Travel insurance should be purchased no later than the day you pay your tour deposit for your protection. Failure to purchase adequate cancellation insurance by the time your deposit is paid could result in serious financial loss should you be forced to cancel your journey.
How much does the visa cost?
Visa fee is US$ 40 which is payable along with tours’ logistic cost. We can process and obtain visa only on booking of tour and only visa service is not available. In compliance with policy of Tourism Council of Bhutan, visa can be processed through local Bhutanese Travel Company only on booking of consolidated package tour.
What’s the food like in Bhutan?
Bhutanese cuisine is renowned for its distinctive spiciness, with chillies being an essential ingredient in nearly every dish. So crucial are they to the cuisine that most Bhutanese people would not find a meal satisfying unless it is spicy. Rice serves as the foundation of most Bhutanese meals, typically accompanied by one or two side dishes featuring meat or vegetables. Pork, beef, and chicken are the most commonly consumed meats. For travelers, a variety of Western, Indian, and Chinese dishes are also offered at hotels and restaurants catering to tourists throughout the country.
What is the dress code and etiquette to be followed by visitors in Bhutan?
When visiting religious sites such as temples, monasteries, and Dzongs, it is important to dress modestly. Please avoid wearing shorts, tank tops, sleeveless t-shirts, or miniskirts, and ensure your hat is removed before entering these sacred spaces. Body-hugging clothing should also be avoided, especially in public areas.
As a sign of respect, always walk in a clockwise direction around religious structures or objects, including temples, monasteries, stupas (chortens), and prayer flags. Additionally, avoid pointing at sacred objects or places, as it is considered disrespectful.
What is the accommodation like?
The Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) has classified hotels into different star categories. In popular tourist destinations like Thimphu, Paro, Punakha, Wangduephodrang, Bumthang, and Phuentsholing, the hotels generally offer a good standard of accommodation. However, in the eastern regions of Bhutan, including Mongar, Trashigang, Trashiyangtse and Samdrup Jongkhar, lodging options tend to be more basic.
In recent years, several international luxury hotel chains have opened high-end hotels and resorts in key towns and rural areas of Bhutan. These establishments uphold international standards of comfort and luxury, seamlessly integrating Bhutanese art, culture, and tradition.

Yes, English is widely spoken. It is the medium of instruction in all schools / institutions. However, the official language of Bhutan is Dzongkha.
Any precautions that one must know while traveling in Bhutan?
Your health is our top priority. To ensure your well-being, we recommend avoiding tap water and opting for readily available mineral water. As the roads between cities are winding, we strongly suggest bringing medication for motion sickness. Additionally, be sure to pack enough of any prescribed medications you may need during your trip. For high-altitude travel, it’s best to consult with a physician beforehand. While most people acclimatize quickly and do not experience altitude sickness, elderly travelers or those with high blood pressure or heart conditions should take extra care in high-altitude environments.
Am i allowed to smoke in Bhutan?
Bhutan is non-smoking country however tourists can bring following tobacco products for their personal consumption: 800 sticks of cigarettes / 150 pieces of cigar / 750 grams of other tobacco products. All these items are subject to 100 percent custom duty and 100 per cent sales tax). Also smoking at public places is prohibited.
Am i allowed to take pictures inside the temple?
Apart from the courtyards, guests are not allowed to take pictures inside the monastery, temple, Dzongs and government establishments.
What kind of vehicles is used for Tours?
We provide the latest models of Toyota, Hyundai, and KIA vehicles for domestic tours, ensuring high standards of tourist transport. For groups of 1-2 guests, we offer models such as the Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Rush, Toyota Land Cruiser/Prado, and Kia Sorento, depending on the booking. For groups of 3-6 guests, we provide a Toyota Hiace minivan, and for groups of 7-18 guests, a deluxe Toyota Coaster. All vehicles undergo regular maintenance and inspections to ensure safety and comfort.
What does the US$ 200 / US$ 250 per day minimum daily package include?
The package tariff for Bhutan is set at US$ 200 per day during the low season and US$ 250 per day during the high season. This comprehensive package includes a minimum of 3-star accommodations, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), an experienced guide, entrance fees to various monuments, and all surface transportation within the country. Additionally, the price covers a US$ 65 per day sustainable development fee (royalty), which is contributed to the government and used for initiatives in education, healthcare, and poverty reduction. All these services will be expertly coordinated by your local tour operator.
How do I get to Bhutan?
Bhutan can be accessed by flights from various cities, including Bangkok, Delhi, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Bodh Gaya, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Guwahati, Singapore, and Mumbai. Currently, two airlines operate flights to Bhutan: Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines (Tashi Air). Additionally, there are three land border crossings available for overland travel, all located along the Indian border: Phuentsholing, Gelephu, and Samdrup Jongkhar.
